Scholarship Application Information
2007-2008
This application has been designed to obtain specific information needed by the Scholarships Committee for scholarship consideration. The information is organized into two areas:
A. Eligibility for Chi State Scholarships:
Active membership in The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International
1. Initiated two years prior to December 31 of the year of application
2. The candidate must first be accepted into the program for which the
scholarship is requested:
a. Doctoral Degree candidates must have at least two quarters or
equivalent of work remaining after July l.
b. Masters Degree candidates must complete their course work after
May 15, 2008.
c. Advanced studies/credential work must be completed after July 1,
2008.
3. Advanced Studies should be of an extended nature sponsored by Chi State
or recognized organizations such as: National Science Foundation, the
California Department of Education, California Literature Project, Valley Forge
Freedom Foundation, California Writing Project, National Endowment for the
Humanities, etc.
4. Contributions that demonstrate commitment to foster the goals of the Society
5. Professional contributions that show commitment to education and to the
community
6. Scope of the proposed study and educational plans are defined
7. School/organization in which work will be done
a. Must be accredited by WASC or equivalent
b. Must have recognized program in applicants chosen field
8. Both a Delta Kappa Gamma International Scholarship and a Chi State
Scholarship cannot be received during the same year.
B. Calendar
1. Typed application form and all supportive data must be postmarked on or
before December 31, 2007
2. Each applicant will be notified of the committees recommendation by
February 1, 2008 .
3. Order of selection
a. Doctorate
b. Masters
c. Advanced (additional) Credential or Advanced Studies.
4. If selected, recipient will
a. Respond within two weeks from notification that scholarship is
accepted.
b. Provide additional pertinent information to be used for publicity
c. Be prepared to present educational plans in an interest session at the
Chi State Convention in May 2008.

5. If not selected, applicant may submit a new application the following year.
6. Presentation of scholarship will be made at the Chi State Convention.
Recipient will be expected to attend the Chi State Convention on Saturday
evening, May 3, 2008, at the San Francisco Airport Marriott
7. Method of payment for Doctoral Degree scholarship ($4,000):
a. The first payment, one half of the total awarded, will be made on
receipt of the official acceptance, verification of enrollment
from the university/college and the award of a Chi State
Scholarship.
b. Second payment toward doctorate will be made upon receipt of grades
or letter of satisfactory progress from an advisor of previous grading
period and official verificatiion of enrollment in next grading period.
8. Method of payment for Masters Degree scholarship ($2,000):
a. First payment of one half of total awarded will be made on receipt of
the official acceptance, verification of enrollment from the
university/college and the award of a Chi State Scholarship.
b. Second payment will be made upon receipt of grades, letter of
satisfactory progress from an advisor of the previous
semester, official verification of enrollment of next grading
period, or certification of completion.
c. OR, a single payment of $2,000 will be made after July 1, 2008
upon receipt of certification of successful completion of
Masters degree program after May 15, 2008.
9. Method of payment for advanced studies scholarship (not to exceed
$2,000):
a. Scholarship payments will be made for programs completed after
July 1, 2008.
b. First payment, not to exceed $1,000, will be made to cover verified
registration expenses. The second payment, not to exceed $1,000, will
be made to cover other expenses upon receipt of verification and a
certification of completion.
